Essay Structure Powerpoint - PEAs are good for you!

(0)
Powerpoint examining how a strong essay structure can improve the quality of a student's written work. Follows the PEA (Point, Evidence, Analysis) structure and provides examples/elaborations on each aspect. Good for GCSE students, can be related to both English Language and English Literature. Please feel free to amend examples to relate to texts being studied by your own classes! Texts referenced in this powerpoint include: Romeo and Juliet Poetry of Wilfred Owen Of Mice and Men Lord Of The Flies
Eduqas/WJEC feedback sheets

Eduqas/WJEC feedback sheets

(0)
Simplified version of the Eduqas/WJEC assessment objectives for English Literature. I print these and tick which objectives have been achieved within written work, and highlight targets for improvement in the next piece of work. This simplifies marking while also keeping students focused on the GCSE mark scheme objectives. I only cover bands 5-3 as I teach mid-high ability students.

Abuse - Information Booklet

(0)
An information booklet about types of abuse, how to spot it and what to do if you discover abuse, either through witnessing it or having it disclosed to you. Safeguarding and Protection of Children/Vulnerable Adults can be a daunting topic, this booklet is a simple guide to help people understand their responsibilities and role within safeguarding, and give them a little more information about the different types of abuse. It is a word document, so it can be amended to include institution specific information (EG name of Safeguarding Representative) or to add in more information, such as contact details or links to websites and other organisations that can provide sector specific information.

Learning Objective: To understand how negative mindsets can be passed from teacher to learner This game is for teacher trainees, or for teachers taking part in CPD. It can also be used for assessors, teaching assistants and classroom volunteers. The aim of the game is to get people to reflect on their own experiences in learning and consider how their attitudes to learning can impact upon their teaching style. Negative 'teacher cliches' are highlighted and the negative impacts of these are discussed in the 'discussion points' handout, alongside suggested alternative phrases which foster a more positive learning environment. The resource was designed specifically to look at negative attitudes towards mathematics, but could be adapted for any subject area if you know any alternative teacher cliches from your own department! Pack includes: PowerPoint Instructions Bingo Cards Discussion Points handout Bingo Caller's Card with all points revealed

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? The Functional Skills English Edition

(0)
PowerPoint game revising Functional Skills English knowledge from Entry Level 1 up to Level 2. Includes sound effects from "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?" - best played with speakers for dramatic effect! A question is displayed with four possible answers. The correct answer for each is revealed on the next slide. If you can complete the game, you 'pass' FS Level 2. Play with a group. Draw names at ransom to answer the questions and allow 'contestants' to: "Phone a Friend" - ask on specific person in the group for their answer "Ask the Audience" - take a vote from the group on the correct answer "Go 50/50" - tell them one correct and one incorrect answer. Good icebreaker / training tool for assessors new to Functional Skills Revision tool for L1/L2 learners Fun group activity for start/end of course Chris Tarrant not included :)
